We are really happy with the final result at this terraced property in Ham. TW10 Architects added a zinc-clad asymmetric roof and a loft conversion with blue brindle tiles and zinc detailing.
The geometry of the roof came as a result of the specific site orientation and need to bring as much light as possible into the extension. The combination of the pitched and flat roofs allows additional height over the dining space but becomes more private when cooking under the direct light through the flat glass rooflights.
The entire property was fully refurbished with an additional utility room, new entrance hall door, loft bathroom and bedrooms with sliding doors in order to give a greater sense of space.

TW10 Architects and the project team refurbished an entire terraced house and added a contemporary rear extension with a gorgeous kitchen as well as a loft conversion.
The house was decorated by the client who did a great job in choosing the materials, which was executed brilliantly by the contractor. The attention to detail was very important in this project and all different elements hug each other perfectly.
Architecturally, the floor to ceiling doors, hidden gutters and exposed structure add to the composition. The detailing and high quality work is also carried up through the house into bedrooms and en-suites.

TW10 Architects added a 6.5m staggered extension and a loft conversion to this secluded 60's bungalow near Kew Gardens with a full refurbishment throughout. The staggering of the extension relates to the sun-path and creates a pocket for varied program.
The loft conversion was possible by adding a chamfered side dormer with the rooflights at an angle, which allowed for the required privacy in planning terms. The addition is barely noticeable and the front elevation remains elegant being the first view at the end of the private drive.

TW10 Architects added a 10m long extension and a loft conversion to this semi-detached house in Twickenham with a full refurbishment throughout. It was challenging in planning terms as we pushed the boundaries into obtaining a deeper extension than the local guidelines approve. The result is an amazing open-plan contemporary space, which the client and us love.
Through the entrance Crittall doors we can see all the way through to the garden. The kitchen island is the perfect place for morning breakfast and some work from home with a calm view.
The design concept was to use the contrast of a bright open-plan kitchen to give way to the dark cinema room. The use of sliding pocket doors gives the option of separating or linking these spaces. The floor features an interlocking concrete finish tile which also locks into the engineered laminate wood flooring system.

TW10 Architects have designed a new-built villa in Cannes overlooking the hills and sea. This is a great project which opens our doors to more potential international projects in Europe.
The large glazing to the living areas overlooking the sea is contrasted with the smaller windows to the service rooms at the back. We have used two architectural styles and proportions, which are merged by the side elevation overlooking the swimming pool.
We also designed the landscape as it needed to be part of the allowed buildable area following local planning rules. The villa was modelled in 3D to show how it would merge within the existing and proposed topography, which was a requirement by the local French council.

By adding a side return to the existing rear extension on this terraced house we created a wrap-around extension. The new side return features a pitched roof with 2.5m long mechanically operated contemporary rooflights. The existing rear was raised and a large opening was created for the level threshold slim-line sliding doors.
The original wall between the living room and rear was kept, creating a semi-open space to allow for localised activity. This geometry allowed for the kitchen island to sit naturally against the dividing wall creating a practical yet flowing space.

This semi-detached house was fully rendered externally and we added a contemporary dormer for its amazing loft conversion. The dormer features an asymmetric window overlooking Twickenham Stadium adding drama to this elegant home.
The loft features a full-width bedroom which allows for sliding windows to open in any position. The loft level also features a bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. Many thanks to the client who decorated these rooms in such an elegant manner, which makes a big difference in creating a comfortable home and adds value to any property, which we encourage as architects and designers.

This London stock brick wrap-around was designed with practicality in mind. The proposed extension's width allowed us to locate a larder, utility and a downstairs WC with external window as well as an open-plan living-kitchen.
These ancillary spaces are accessed from the main area through sliding door openings, which makes a seamless continuity of the space, unifying all uses and decluttering the kitchen. The level threshold to the rear terrace adds to this continuity and merges the garden with the habitable space.

This project features a rear zinc-clad flat roof extension and loft conversion. The existing rear garden houses a small pool, which is ideal for the hot summer months and adds a touch of all-year-round holiday-home feel to it. The existing roof was really challenging to transform into a habitable space, but as well as a bedroom it now has a nice en-suite and laundry room under the eaves.
The client did a great job in designing the interior and the choice of materials as well as its execution is of a high standard.

This luxury 2-bed penthouse was a complete, challenging transformation of the top level plant room of Nell Gwynn House in Sloane Avenue. The existing concrete walls and floors were upgraded to current building regulations, including vibration tests due to the core materials. The stunning result features a double-height living room and open plan kitchen to the lower floor. On the upper level the stair gives access to the 12th storey rooftop view, which houses a new hot tub for that relaxing moment with views over the London skyline.
It is worth looking at the original condition of this space to understand all the project challenges.

TW10 Architects converted this narrow quirky terraced house within a conservation area in Westminster into a contemporary cosy home. The property was fully gutted and refurbished. A great contractor and client made this project a pleasure to be part of.
A rear extension was added into the existing patio, which we nearly filled in order to maximise the ground floor space. The Victorian tiles and Crittall doors add character to this narrow space, which will soon be featuring a green living wall, similar to the green roof to the extension, which adds a touch of colour into a rather dense central London urban fabric.
The double mansard upstairs gives room to an additional bedroom and bathroom with plenty of storage, which is always needed within this house typology.

TW10 Architects created a little oasis within the bustling streets of Camden Town. This terraced property near the market had side and rear extensions added to it, which we clad in matching brickwork and finished with a zinc roof. In this manner we wanted to combine the traditional architecture and materiality of this conservation area, while adding a touch of contemporary zinc, which follows internally with an open-plan kitchen and living space.

This change of use project transformed an office unit into a three bedroom dwelling featuring a new mezzanine level in order to maximise the dwelling's potential. This project sits within the Kew Gardens conservation area. The current mews character of the property was amended by adding rear windows in order to create a double-aspect condition. This improves the daylight levels to the rear of the dwelling and allows cross ventilation for increased airflow and quality.

We added a hip to gable loft conversion and a 6m rear extension to this property in Hampton at different stages. The loft conversion resulted in a very calm dual aspect bedroom with a family bathroom.
The ground floor pitched roof extension was submitted under the larger home application type and the added volume to the house is bright as well as functional and elegant.

This 4-storey Victorian terraced house features a new side return, rear extension and a loft conversion with rear dormer overlooking Finsbury Park. The reflection of the greenery on this kitchen worktop is priceless.
The entire house was stripped down, all external walls insulated, all floors made fireproof and a new concrete ground-bearing slab with under floor heating was installed. The new extension has been provided with Crittall style windows which combine well with the stainless steel kitchen worktop.
The new loft conversion sits at a third storey level, therefore the ground floor of the house was installed with a sprinkler system. TW10 Architects liaised closely with Building Control in order to arrive at the best and most viable solution for both the council and client. The new stairs to the loft lead to the fourth bedroom and the spacious en-suite.
TW10 Architects submitted two separate planning applications in order not to compromise one part of the project. The project is in a conservation area and the new roof to the rear extension follows the existing neighbouring slope responding to its context and architectural language. The original brick on the rear facade was carefully removed, cleaned and re-used to create the new extension. This was the perfect solution to avoid matching materials and in order to comply with local material guidance.
TW10 Architects acted as lead consultants at planning and building control stages as well as providing essential information regarding Party Wall matters. A number of construction sections were drawn in order to achieve the most efficient result between neighbours.

This contemporary loft conversion accommodates a side dormer under Permitted Development. In order to maximise the allowed volume under the regulations, an asymmetric section profile was created to achieve 2 bedrooms and a bathroom using the full depth of the house. The resulting shape of the dormers led to the design of the asymmetric rear window, which the client loves. Additional side rooflights provide ventilation and further views down rooftops.

This double-fronted Chiswick property will be completely refurbished to accommodate a large basement, ground and first floor house extension together with a loft conversion. TW10 Architects have closely worked together with the client and council in order to respond to pre-application feedback. In response, the architectural design has been amended to suit conservation area regulations and Rights of Light 3D modelling tests have been carried out.
